Today's developments in this ongoing M&A bidding saga included a $27/share offer by Dell followed by a $30/share counter-bid by HP. Is 3PAR's technology truly worth $1.6B, or $18.B or even higher? Or has this struggle become a battle of corporate ego's willing to win at any cost? Mostly likely some of both. Dell most definitely needs to demonstrate leadership and innovation in the corporate IT/data center space to remain at least a credible competitor to HP and IBM. While HP needs a strong "storage" offering as well needing to prove its IT mussell during the transition to a new (and to be named) CEO.
Just where will the bidding war end? Are there other storage vendors which might be attractive candidates? Send us your thoughts to us here at the Storage Technology Solutions Review
